To Pankaj ji,

I am a regular visitor of your site. It is one of the best and most divine site in cyber world.

I appreciate your effort as you tend to tell everything cleary while some people tend to hide the secrets.

My problem is that my mind never stays at one place.I try to chant mantra etc as guided by your site but while doing this my mind is constantly moving somewhere else having different thoughts which looses my interest to continue chanting.I know i have to do it but i can't help it.

How should i keep my mind constant to have effective results?
please guide.

The Question you ask is a  very important one and is a situation that each of us go through when we try to Meditate
or chant Mantras 
within our Mind (which is a technique of getting
into the state of Meditation )

As I have said in the Meditation section " Our Mind is like a wild elephant , never silent and calm , always rushing and running , full of noisy thoughts that keep on happening by themselves ."

And this is the greatest challenge , the situation that we have to get out of to get DIVINE POWERS ..

If we succeed in doing this in this Life , then we can say that our this Life in a Human form was successful and for this we will have to be very determined and discipline our Mind.

From my learning , research and experience , I will give you below some very very important guidelines , tips , ideas and method of achieving this peaceful and calm state of Mind , so that Meditation can happen and Mantras can become effective in bringing Divine Powers in your Life...

 1. Doesn't matter if you are getting it or not , but first cultivate a habit of sitting in silence and being alone with yourself , without speaking to anyone or letting anyone disturb you during a fixed time daily
minimum 30 minutes to one hour at least . (Preferably twice a day - once in the early morning and second time late at night )

By  Always keeping a fixed time for sitting alone in silence to do your   
Mantras , you get lots of benefits . Do not change your time daily.
This way you will cultivate a habit and also condition your Mind to become ready for it in a receiving and accepting state of Mind for this  important practice.

Our Mind has a built in Biological clock that needs to be programmed
for doing something ( anything ) as a daily routine practice at a particular set time , then it automatically reminds you and wants the same thing to happen , the same experience for it to go through.

THIS power of habit formation then make at least the physical body ready and willing to go through this 1 hour or  30 minutes of silence . Then it will stop wriggling and remaining uneasy and fidgety.

PLUS , your people in your family , your friends and outsiders also know that you are unavailable at this particular time and will gradually learn not to expect your availibility to them . It is my experience in Life,
that the world , will never let us alone and be with our self , however hard we try , Just try being undisturbed from any outside interruption or disturbance... IMPOSSIBLE  . Ether the phone will ring , or the door bell will ring , or some family member will have something very important to ask you or say to you , It seems that because we have created such a whirlpool of activities and connections that every 10 to 15 minutes some new event develops in our surrounding that requires our attention . So , if you want to be left alone - NO WAYY Y  .
More than 15 minutes and someone or other requires you ,  some or other thing will interrupt you. SO , FIRST THING ... GO SEND THE MESSAGE TO THE WORLD (INCLUDING YOUR FAMILY ) THAT NO
NO , NO ... YOU ARE OUT OF REACH , INACCESSIBLE , NOT EXISTING FOR THEM FOR AT LEAST ONE HOUR FROM SO AND SO TIME TO SO AND SO TIME

Another very important reason for keeping a fixed time is a way of telling your self internally that you are giving Mantra Meditation  a high level of importance in your Life , psychologically , by setting a routine daily fixed time for doing it.

It is not something that you do casually as a time pass or depending on your feelings or convenience etc. It has to be the most , most important part of your every day in Life. It is going to make you achieve everything you desire and want in Life , all the fun and good things that you want , for which you waste hours and hours doing this and that ... but so far without any results .

Now let the Divine Powers work for you while you only  try to get and remain connected to the Cosmic MIND through Mantras and Meditation . And see how good things come to you by themselves and how everything happens on its own accord , situations unfold , opportunities come to you and how you attract good fortune through
the positive energy that you develop in your Aura ( Energy field )
by doing Mantra and Meditation.

2.  Do not sit for MANTRAS after eating a meal . This should be done on an empty stomach or light stomach - not heavy inside .
At least keep a gap of 2 to 3 hours since you have eaten last .

3. Do not feel guilty or sad or be in any expectancy and anxiety to see if calmness is coming to you or not . Dont worry at all .. It will happen as you keep watching and observing your mind as an outsider. IF THOUGHTS COME AND CARRY YOUR MIND AWAY , and then you suddenly realise this , its ok . treat it very normally without getting upset and bring your mind back to your mantra . Get involved with your Mantra . Try to hear it from different parts of your body .

Feel it being said in your heart , then in your stomach , then from your head region ... and so on till you can hear it from each and every cell in your body . BUT , try to hear the Mantra inside your heart area , mostly

At some stage , you might even hear a loud echoing and the Mantra happening very loudly inside your complete Body . Enjoy it.

Also if possibe understand the meaning of the Mantra and visualise the meaning when you are hearing it inside you.

4. Try to hear the maximum part of the Mantra while inhaling , ie.
during  the In breath

During the outbreath , while  exhaling time let there be silence ,which is possible  if the Mantra is short ,

Keep a gap of silence ,   an interval of silence after you have breathed out , till you breathe in again

Again as you breathe in  the next repetition of the Mantra should begin with the inhaling  . In this way you are always breathing in the Mantra , breathing in the Om sound , since all MANTRAS BEGIN WITH OM.

5. Become a Mountain , think as if you are a mountain.

Or take your MIND into the vast Cosmos , see the earth as a moon far far away and in this way get detached from the earth . Feel the warm gentle loving healing rays of sunlight , the Divine light surrounding you and flowing into you from the top of your head , engulfing you in its arms Become one with it. Merge into it. Merge into the Lord of our Universe the Sun. Imagine how the different huge planets are revolving around it. TAKE YOUR MIND ON ALL THESE THINGS HAPPENING right now in our Universe. Do you know that the largest planet is JUPITER and can fit 1000 EARTHS into it and the second largest planet is SATURN which can fit 700 earths into it. that earth is the 3rd planet closest to the SUN , MARS and VENUS are the , that Pluto , Neptune , MERCURY and Uranus are very far away from the SUN at the edge of the solar system .
